Week 10, Summer 2024

Welcome to week 10 of the summer! This is the second-to-last farm journal of the summer season (it’s crazy how quickly the summer has flown by!), and this one is coming to you in photo journal format and a little late after Landing this weekend, which was a huge success!

Friday, August 2:

I tended to our mushrooms in the morning, and was greeted with some gray dove pins, which is super exciting and gratifying to see after so much intentional care.

Saturday, August 3:

We brought the whole crew to the farmers’ market again to sell produce, paint faces, and play music.

In the evening, we had a lovely hot pot dinner hosted by Isa, which involved our homegrown potatoes, tong hao, mushrooms, and napa cabbage.

Sunday, August 4:

On Sunday, we started out the day with a delicious pancake breakfast, and then went into an afternoon of dance rehearsal for Landing. I think we struck some pretty impressive poses.

Monday, August 5:

We had our first major golden oyster mushroom harvest of the season, and harvested the usual suspects as well (which include the tomatoes pictured in the background of this image).

Tuesday, August 6:

Tuesday was a smattering of different farm tasks and event prep of which no one has any photos, so here’s a photo of Zoë with Nooch because we sent her off Friday and are already missing her energy :(

Wednesday, August 7:

On Wednesday, we made dumplings for the dance festival after a day of farm tasks! Isa made a delicious filling of napa cabbage, daikon radishes, chives, mushrooms, soybeans, and more.

We also had our first dress rehearsal for Friday night, and here’s a picture of Eric and Ella playing music on the walk back.

Thursday, August 8:

On Thursday, we began welcoming guests for the dance festival, and Yonah single handedly freehanded an amazing dinner of summer rolls. We also screened a music video and played a ZA quote Kahoot for Zoë’s last night.
