Week 9, Spring 2022

Hey there!

Happy May!

This week Orly, Sarah, and Gavriel came back to the farm on Tuesday! One of the wonderful things they brought back with them was wild ramps from Harvest of Joy, in Michigan. This weekend we also had Matt Ryan come back again who has come in previous seasons to share with us his knowledge of how to organize a farm. We also had Eric and JR join us for his session this Sunday, shout out to them for coming along!

Isabelle took another round of control samples and marked areas where spreaders will apply basalt. This upcoming week is our last week with Isabel here on the farm for this season and we will miss her very much! She will continue working on basalt research we have going on at the farm but from Yale University!

This weekend we had folks from our cohort visit Chicago. Matt, Daniella, and Isabelle visited the Art Institute of Chicago and had a great time there. Isabelle also visited the Field Museum and saw the largest t-rex skeleton, fun gems and minerals! Daniella had a street double stuffed vegan dog that was really good.

Radishes our growing in ATR, so are our sunflower seedlings, tomato seedlings, and our bait greens garden is flourishing up! This week was also had Phoebe, our cute little black farm cat rejoin us here on the farm from Eric’s house. We lit our havdallah candle here at the farm and we had Daniella and Isabelle zoom-in from Chicago and Maya and Matt from their car. A lovely surprise we had here on the farm this week was Maya surprising us here on the farm after going back how to celebrate passover with their family!

Bye, lots of love!

Everyone at the farm <3
