Zine 2, Spring ‘22

Hello!

Click here to view our second zine!

As a group we had our first trip to Chicago to see The Festival of Latz purim spiel of The Book of Ester.

On our way to Chicago, we stopped at Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve and saw the first ramps of the season emerging from under the fallen leaf floor in the forest. We took some home to garnish the bomb hummus Sarah has made for Shabbat. The word for “chicago” itself comes from the Algonquin word “shikaakwa” meaning “stinky onion” or “skunk” and refers to the lakes and streams around Chicago that were full of wild onions, leeks, and ramps; one being the Chicago River hence how it got its name. We also made peach, poppy seed, and apple sauce filled hamantaschens together as a pre-purim activity!

Much love from all of us here at the farm!

Matt, Daniella, Maya, Gavriel, Orly, Sarah, Lexi, and Nooch.
